There is only one God. The One God has revealed Himself to us as our Father, in His Son Jesus Christ, and through the Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ is the Son of God, that is, the One God manifested in and through an authentic human life. To see Jesus is to see God.
Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God. On earth, Jesus was 100% God and 100% man. He is the only man ever to have lived a sinless life. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, performed miracles, died on the cross for mankind and thus, atoned for our sins through the shedding of His blood. He rose from the dead on the third day according to the Scriptures, ascended to the right hand of the Father, and will return again in power and glory.
Salvation is a gift from God to man. Man can never make up for his sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness can man be saved from sin’s penalty. Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into his life by faith.
The blueprint for salvation at Journey Church is beautifully encapsulated in Acts 2:38: “Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the Name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.” This verse outlines the three crucial elements towards salvation: repentance, baptism in Jesus’ name, and the reception of the Holy Spirit.
Water Baptism is more than a mere ritual; it’s a powerful symbol of our identification with Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection. We are baptized in Jesus’ Name, signifying our acceptance of Jesus as our personal Lord and Savior, and the washing away of our sins forever.
God appointed water baptism to wash away man’s sins. When we are baptized, all of our past sins are removed. Our sins are not physically washed away by the water, but spiritually our sins are removed by our obedience to the words of Jesus Christ
The Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son as God. He is present in the world to make men aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. The Christian seeks to live under his control daily.
